once in a while, inspiration strikes and its so damn clear that all must be dropped in the pursuit of a good DIY. Such was the case of the white pots in EDITION's lobby. My BFF moved into a shiny Downtown Miami loft space with big windows a very NYC view (low of the green, heavy on the gray), and she needed a little more life in her new home - when we saw the lobby at EDITION, we had an epiphany moment and decided to copy this minimalist design statement with big impact. We made plans to visit Galloway Nursery, where I recently scored a new outdoor set for my backyard, to buy plants and scop the pot scene.

Galloway had exactly what we needed, plus a sale on all terracotta pots, so we did a bit of shopping and made it happen. At Home Depot we picked up an all-surface, shiny white gloss spray paint and bing, bang, boom we had a near replica on our hands for a very reasonable price.

One surprising thing we learned along the way? Cat Palms, the ones on the far right and far left below, are very finnicky little plants and they like filtered water instead of Miami-Dade's finest tap.
