there's a feeling I can't shake that there are one hundered hidden spots between Biscayne and 40th and 80th that I don't know about - the Mi Vida Cafe is one of them (Flavorish Market, right across the street is another - check back for that write up). But now I know. If I want to get vegan or raw food, like real food, not just some ingreditents slapped together without cooking them, this is raw food that's still been cooked, for lack of a better word.

The bowls, sandwiches, salads, wraps and pizzas at Mi Vida all come in hearty portions that prove you don't need a starchy carb to feel full. What should be dough-based, carbs (pizza dough, wrap, bread) are pressed and dehydrated seeds, vegetables and herbs. I can't really get more specific than that because I don't remember the details, but if you ask, the friendly staff will be more than pleased to tell you how they make the food without making you feel like a newbie - even if you are one. The dehydrated foods game is as much a mystery as the upper Biscayne locals scene to me, so I was happy to listen while the spread the gospel of veganism.
