the Bakehouse Art Complex, a studio and workspace for visual artists, opens its doors once to kick off Art Basel with Woman to Woman tonight at 7PM with a live performance by The State Of.
BAC is one of our favorite, super nice, art based not-for-profits. They provide studio spaces to artists off all disciplines from sculpture of metal monsters out of vintage materials to silkscreened beetle prints and of course the staple nude drawings. The Bakehouse has been at their Wynwood location since 1984, and if you know anything about the Wynwood area, you know that more than twenty years later it's still "emerging."
Many hats off to the folks at the Bakehouse for keeping art accessible and opening their privite studio spaces to the public to wander around with alcoholic beverages (hell yeah, open bar+art) and pretend that you can fill your house with the ultra interesting pieces inside the space (unless of course you can afford it... then don't pretend or be cheap and buy the stuff).
