swimwear fashion week?

if, as a local, the idea of Miami filling up for a week with skinner girls than usual, the snooty fashion crowd, and the Ed Hardy swimwear team, scares you a little, you aren't alone. While I'm proud that Merecedes-Benz, the head honcho of international fashion weeks (if you didn't know, almost every week is a fashion week somewhere, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Bulgaria, Trinidad and Tobago) recognizes that we Miamians are the true leaders in skanky beach clothes and barely-there bikinis, it may seem a little inaccessible for the locals. Luckily, the people at Mercedes-Benz thought of that too. Every day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Swim Week, from July 15-19, locals are invited to happy hour at host The Raleigh Hotel. Rub elbows with- well, really skinny elbows, enjoy seven dollar martinis and Hors d'oeuvres. The Raleigh isn't too shabby of a location, it was the host of the Chanel cruise collection a few years ago and is a regular on the Art Basel circuit. So, let's show them they were right about inviting us nicers and show up in our fashion swim week best.
