get more cultured for free (or five bucks)

Miami Art Museum- free admission for families on the second Saturday of every month from 1-4 pm
but... drum roll please, here's my all time favorite Miami culture resource: Culture Shock Miami. I've been meaning to post about Culture Shock for a while now, but you know how it is, what with the sun being out again and all. Anyway, Culture Shock is "your pass to the arts," for five bucks student 13-22 can buy tickets to all sorts of events from the regular Vizcaya, Zoo Miami (more on that later), Fairchild, and two for five to the museums, and those are just the year-round events. They also feature five buck tickets to all sorts of events from plays at some of the best playhouses in Miami (GableStage, Miami Childrens Theater, The Little Stage Theater), Viernes Culturales on Calle Ocho, touring dance shows and much more. Sometimes the things they have are weird (the Crime in Miami exhibit at HistoryMiami), sometimes they look awesome (The Pillowman opening next week is one to check out), and sometimes they're just worth the five bucks (Natural Disasters of the Carribbean 1495-2010).
