neon nails?

i've talked about how Garance Dore is really pretty and cool and very funny in a endearing Cher (remember, I've been watching Clueless ALOT.. perfect summer movie. Like, whatever.) kind of way, but today she debated the very serious issue of why silly things are acceptable when the heat is on in the summer. She particularly ponders why she thinks neon nails are acceptable between the months of June and August.

Here's what she has to say:

 

How did I convince myself that I like it?
- Because I don’t know what divine intervention is at work here, but it makes feet look awesome.
- Because IT’S SUMMERTIME (Yeeeeeeeaaah!)
- Because with so much bad taste, you start to touch on the sublime.
- Because black nail-polish make my hands look terrible.
- And red nail-polish fits my style a little too perfectly : it’ll be a tad too bourgeoise with my Céline ballerina flats (oh yes!), like, a little bit too First-Lady-of-France-ish. Oh, no.
- Taupe nail-polish is the least summery thing I can think of.
- And guess what? It’s SUMMERTIME (Yeeeeaaah!)

Garance, you're so miami and so nice. At any peluqueria here you can get a mani with bright nails all year around and no one will look twice.
