estarbucks

as a rule I try not to post on here about evil things in corporate America that drive away local businesses, but admittedly I have an embarassing Starbucks order (grande, sugar-free, vanilla, soy latte... if Pumpkin Spice isn't in season) and am a barista frequenter. So, when I heard (via South Florida Daily Blog)that starting July 1 all Starbucks are going to have free wifi I thought it was necessary to share with you fellow internet users.

In other Starbucks news, I thought I should share that I'm boycotting the Starbucks on Miracle Mile (not the one in the Barnes and Noble the stand-alone store directly next door). I've sworn to myself for two summers that I would write a complaint letter to corporate about the unusual amount of wacky/creepy people that loiter there (including that guy who is dressed as a priest with a flat brimmed hat and giant gold medallions of different religions around his neck who one time told me he is both a financial advisor to Donald Trump and the Billionaires Club, and Condoleezza Rice's best bud), the early closings, and general dirtiness, but the other day when there were just no chairs outside and I was dying to sit in 98 degrees and 100% humidity, that was when I was really thrown over the edge.

Instead, I'm going to give new local independent coffee house Pasion del Cielo  just a few blocks away who already has free wifi.
Here's their Daily Candy review.
