Kitchen Shopping In Japan: Mostly from Akomeya, The Williams Sonoma of Tokyo

I dreamt of many things before my second trip to Japan - mostly 711s and Akomeya. You know the feeling when you feel like you didn’t take full advantage of a great shopping find? That’s way down there with getting to a favorite restaurant and they’re out of your go-to order or a bad oyster - it’s the kind of pit in your stomach feeling that lingers. That’s how I felt after my last trip to Akomeya, what I like to call the Japanese Williams Sonoma, I wished that I had stocked up properly. Akomeya has everything from the softest Japanese tea towels to variations of rice packed in tight little bricks, condiments, ceramics, cooking gearBut my kitchen was smaller then and my space was limited but I now have no excuse (I know I haven’t posted it but it hasn’t been photographed properly, so big reveal coming soon-ish!).

Here are some of the goodies I picked up at Akomeya this time around - I couldn’t shoot them all because quiet a bit of what I bought were Christmas gifts so here are the things I kept for myself plus some of my finds from Kappabashi a street full of kitchen supply stores (that’s where the trivet and onigiri press were found for around $3 each).
