the new museum of science, or the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, is nice, really nice and, it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, it's a serious upgrade from the former Coconut Grove site. While the old site holds a special place in the hearts of every kid who went to elementary and middle school in Miami and ogled over the very, very old tortoises and everyone who went, totally clear of mind, I'm sure, to the planetarium for a Pink Floyd concert at the Planetarium, this new museum totally rocks.

First of all, it is huge. And while the whole process has been a bit fraught with money problems, you know, the usual, it's going to be worth it in the end. The project sits on the shared 40 acres that's now called museum park, right between the PAMM and the AAA. The architecture will be  a stunning addition to the skyline and the updated Miami modernism of its neighbors. We saw how they played with indoor/outdoor spaces at PAMM and this project is an extension of that same language.

The museum is composed of many parts: the Innovation Center, Sun Deck, Moon Deck, Planetarium, Health People & Science Gallery and the living core. With time, I'm sure you'll visit and experience each of them and all the museum has to offer, no spoilers. But we can say that it is nice, for everyone, kids on field trips, education and science buffs, health and fitness fanatics, tourists, Sharkweek addicts and yes, the Planetarium late-night show devotees - you know who you are.
