classic miami: junior orange bowl parade's 66th year
i have a sneaking suspicion that most of you didn't spend the last of your extra-long holiday weekend at the 66th Junior Orange Bowl Parade, but I did, so I thought I'd share a bit of the classic, family-style kitsch. Like most parades, there were a lot of girls wearing sashed with titles waving off the back of convertibles in quince's style dresses, old men getting really rowdy in various kinds of play automobiles, Chinese drum banging, pre-pubescent bootie dancing, a little Gloria Estefan, Miss Homestead and her crew of cowgirls, hippies promoting their even weirder impending parade, marching bands and baton twirling. All in all, it was just another parade in Anytown USA done only-in-Miami style.
