last weekend at delray beach's 15th annual garlic festival
it's the "Best Stinkin' Party In Town!" Boy, do those Delrayers have a good sense of humor and a high tolerance for garlic! Garlic Fest was worth going to and more or less like a beachy county fair with a lot of garlicky dishes.
Just as you would expect, right when you walked into the town center, where the 15th annual Garlic Festival was held, it freakin' reeked of garlic in the best possible way. More than twenty vendors sold food in fair-like booths that were pretty regular dishes (crab cakes, pizza, buffalo chicken sandwich), just loaded with garlic. Perhaps most impressive, and surprising, was that the festival was totally packed.
We started with, what else but pure roasted garlic because we wanted to be sure there were definitely no vampires in Delray.
Saturday night, Dispatch (yeah, the guys that wrote The General and have been playing it at Garlic Festivals ever since) closed out the evening and some people went home with five scents of handmade soap.
Till next year Garlic Fest, it did prove to be a stinkin' good time.
