florida city pitstop: taqueria morelia
there was a rumor floating around for a long time. It was a sweet rumor, well, really a very, very spicy one, and I was determined to get to the bottom of it. Word on the street was Florida City and Homestead were full of hidden authentic Mexican spots that I knew nothing about - you say "taco" I say "yes."
Turns out, the mystery solved itself. I didn't have to creep around the web and trust the opinioin of strangers who may be pointing me towards a Taco Bell. Nick, of Seasons Farm Fresh, the cornerstone farm at the new Grove Green Market checked out MIAMI NICE and sent me an email with a few nice things he thought I should know about, including Mexican food that came recommended by the most trusted resource there is - Mexicans.
So I gave it a go on the way down to the Keys and swung by for an extra-large to-go order. It turned out Taqueria Morelia is in a gas station - you guys know how excited good food in a gas station gets me.
It was true. Florida City has some serious Mexican - how serious? It burned my mouth, like BURNED, my mouth with the spiciest, spicy hot sauce there ever was. That means it's real Mexican.
