visit like a local: a miami bro recommends hotels
a very Miami boy recommends where he would tell his friends of all kinds, the kinds that aren't staying at his house, where to stay while in town.
"If you're a clubber, The W"
If you're a clubber, you most likely already know of the chain of W Hotels. Here, you'll be right upstairs from The Wall and walking distance to other umpta-umpta, late-night clubs. It's pricey, and swanky and probably the exact style you want if you're just coming here to crash between popping bottles day and night. You know what they say, I'm in Miami...
"If money aint a thang and you've never been here, The Fountainebleau"
The Fontainebleau is everything Miami is supposed to be. You'll be staying in a hotel that recently had a multi-billion dollar renovation - that's right - billion. Sure, there's one of the best clubs in the world, LIV, in your lobby, a luxury village worth of amenities and will pay a pretty penny for it, but you'll also have the best spaghetti in the world at Scarpetta. The ultimate hangover cure.
"If you're an Arab prince, The Setai" - at this point I have to ask if he has in fact recommended The Setai to an Arab prince. He says he has, "Once, many moons ago."
Asian style minimalism, high-end luxury and three pools all set to different temperatures. Yes, it's fit for a prince.
"Like OMG GIRLS TRIP?! Soho Beach House. So they can take selfies all day." I'll explain. The Soho Beach House has an irresistible, and free, photo booth in the hallway on the way to the upstairs bar - it's for members only or guests of the hotel. I've fallen for this photo booth many a time. I guess I'm an OMG girl.
This member-only club is open to any one who books a room at the hotel. See a celeb like an indie-movie star or an old British man in leather pants who looks like he should be a celeb. You won't ever have to leave once you've checked into the deco-meets-English-style club. Eat at the mason jar lit Cecconi's downstairs or skip the heavy meals and go the spa route at Cowshed. And yeah, don't skip the selfie-opp in the black and white photo booth.
