the blackbird ordinary, a nicer transit
takes the place of
, right next to the new La Moon (bigger, better and less need for
), and basically, it's a nicer Transit. Transit, of local band and game night glory, is replaced by a sleek, slick interior with custom craft cocktails and some of the game-night gusto of Transit.
There's a pool table, and the outdoor yard remains recognizeable. In fact, the one major structural change (the island style bar remains on the inside) is the missing outdoor bar. We're hoping they're just pinching pennies while saving up for an upgraded bar for the outside, if the long-term plan is to just stay without one, we're putting in our two cents and saying that they need it.
What's really different, and pretty dang nice, about Blackbird, is the craft cocktail menu. It's an actual, printed out, hard copy menu of real mixology style drinks. We're so down, but one can only give so many cocktails a taste in one night, so I went with the London Sparrow, a gin drink with a cayenne kick. It was just the right amount on spicy and worth another, so we can't actually report on any of the other drinks. We volunteer for a full taste test in the future.
The ambiance at Blackbird is nice, we're glad they gave Transit a little makeover, but kept its recognizable charm and the design is seriously commendable. The black leather booths looks like a perfect place for a game of Would You Rather or Truth or Dare among friends, gossiping and secrets, and, good old fashioned drinking too much- followed by a Super Moon Perro, of course- the ordinary.
