mercy me
"Bliss out," "breathe in, breathe out," "let go of whatever you're holding onto," these are the pretty standard mantras of a meditation session, but there was nothing standard about the Mercy event at the Standard.
Donna D'Cruz, multi-hyphenate artist, walked into the Hamam room at the Standard Spa with the zen energy of any DJ/meditation leader, then, she slipped on a pair of rhinestoned headphones, a la Beats By Dre, and followed up the aforementioned chants with "get wet." Wet we were, the hot marble Hamam had the various press people snapping pictures in their bathing suits and sweating from head to toe.
I spent a good amount of the meditation concerned for the press people that didn't come bathing suit ready and the rest of the time trying to remember to download "Calling All Angels" when I got home- oh, that reminds me!
The event was for Mercy, a new beverage that "protects and defends" against hangovers. I was all in on this because it was A) at the beautiful Standard and B)
Gwyneth Paltrow, my single idol in life, featured it on her blog a
nd disclosed that she'd invested in the company because she liked the product so much, oh, and C) because I'll take a chance on any cucumber beverage and the press release had a recipe for one.
The consensus? Mercy was tasty and delicious, way, way lighter than Red Bull or a traditional energy drink, it was just a light hint of carbonated citrus underneath the fig and cucumber mocktails they served. You can drink Mercy before a long night out, or after, and in a city like this, a beverage that can save your weekend from the hangover blues sounds just right. Right in time for Ultra?! Mercy me.
