miami nice talks to Erin of The Fashion Set about tiramisu, little stores in Little Havana, chonga jeans and cleavage. You know, standard Miami stuff.

Tell me a bit about yourself and a bit about

The Fashion Set…

Well I started The Fashion Set in 2010 as a way for me to break out of the monotony of wearing jeans and a t-shirt everywhere. In Miami, I was surrounded people my same age always looking fabulous and although I was always comfortable, I envied them. I soon realized, the people who inhabit Miami also drop $10,000 like I splurge for a good Cuban dinner

.

Where in Miami do you live? Are you a lifer or a transplant?

I live in Coconut Grove, next to the

Milams (BEST SUPERMARKET EVER)

! I was transplanted here from Los Angeles around 9 years ago, plan on making my way back sometime in this life.

What’s the biggest mistake you see girls make here (so many to choose from… today I saw blue leggings with a tight multi colored tank… like Crayon blue, and they wrapped around the foot and she had thong sandals on. Like, what?! Isn’t that uncomfortable?!)

I think too many girls in Miami over dress to impress--they get their hair and makeup done all up in this hot mess and then you add humidity to it and it becomes a FLAMING hot mess.

Your boyfriend is a fashion photographer? That’s convenient! Do you sometimes feel like your whole life is a photoshoot? Are there any places that feel quintessentially “real Miami” that you’d love to use as a backdrop for a shoot? A kind of fashion photography bucket list…

The only reason why I feel like my whole like is a photo shoot is because I'm always his main subject, be it at 6:00 in the morning with gross morning breath or when we're out on the town and he feels like taking a hipstamatic picture--there are hardrives full of random pictures of me.

I really actually love the Cutler area, like Coral Gables and Mattheson Hammock.

You have to love the Fashion District, clients come from all over the world just to shoot there. We try to avoid South Beach and Viscaya because those locations are soooo over worked and we cant find any ways to shoot them to make it look original.

Where are your favorite places to shop, most importantly where are your favorite secret places to shop?

I find cute little accessories and purses in the little Latin stores Downtown and in Little Havana.

I have this brown purse I found while out shopping with my (basically) sister-in-law and it was $10. I USE IT EVERY DAY. I added this antique lock on one of the straps and badda bing, it looks like I bought it that way.

Best hole-in-the-wall to grab a bite? Drink?

My boyfriend and I love 2 places--Van Dykes Cafe on Lincoln RD and Rosinella's in Mary Brickell Village. Those are two totally different crowds of people, but it never disappoints.

At Van Dykes, we get the chocolate fondue and sit outside, and at Rosinella's we split a tiramisu.

Our favorite hole in the wall is Lou's Beer Garden at the New Hotel on like, 75th and Collins. It's a micro brewery and the chef, Lou, is THE BEST. Seriously....try the Raspberry Beer + the Bitchin' Crab cakes.  Best $25 you'll ever spend.

Ok, last, but most important question: If you could give all of Miami a makeover, and lord knows, it could use a bit of a facelift and strip down of all its sequins glory (and a little attention for the loads of really, truly stylish girls that there are here, who really know how to dress up everyday and value a good gold bangle), what would it look like?

The Miami I would create would loose the chonga jeans and cleavage overloaded clothing.
