overtown goes 80's

if you've notices a little makeover going down across the street from The Vagabond (North Miami Avenue and NW 14th Street) its because we're getting yet another major film crew heading our way. This time, we have some big, big names attached. I can only hope that I'll run into one of the name big names including Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Tom Cruise or Catherine Zeta-Jones and nervously offer them a tour of the best places for pan con bistec, cortaditos and all that other fattening food that you can't get anywhere better than here- but our own Gloria Estefan is also in the cast, so I'm guessing they have it covered.

Rock of Ages is an 80's cheesetastic Broadway musical set partially on the Sunset Strip aka Overtown. Apparently, we had a rawer space here to transform into 1980's LA than even LA. A handful of buildings in the area will receive new facades after Miami beat out other cities to host the expensive production.

We'll keep driving by, snapping pics, updating you on the progress and hoping to yell a Jack Donaghy line at Alec Baldwin.
